How do the various kinds of microscopes differ as tools in the study of cells?

There's two different kinds of microscopes. There is the light microscope and an electron microscope. A light microscope can view living things but can only magnify to a certain degree that is considerably smaller than electron microscopes. Light microscopes are also a lot less expensive. Electron microscopes take up almost a whole room, are extremely expensive and can only view dead organisms but to a much larger magnification. If you are in a basic biology cl you most likely use light microscopes.
